Withings Health Solutions and Babyscripts announced an association on Thursday that aims to address hypertensive disorders of pregnancy, which are among the main causes of maternal mortality. This includes preeclampsia, which is the high blood pressure that develops doors pregnancy or later.

Babyscripts, based in Washington, DC, offers a maternity virtual care program that includes perinatal education, remote monitoring of patients and mental health evaluations. It works with health plans, suppliers, private practices and direct patients with patients. Meanwhile, Withings Health Solutions offers health monitoring devices.

One of these devices is the BPM Pro 2 withm, a cellular blood pressure monitor closed by the FDA that patients can use at home. Through the association, Babyscripts members now have access to this device. The device includes a characteristic called Insights patient, which asks patients to answer a questionnaire after taking a reading to obtain information on symptoms and risk factors. This helps suppliers identify early alert signals of hypertensive disorders of pregnancy and intervene rapidly.

“By providing context together with each reading of blood pressure, we are providing for the care teams the information they need to inform clinical decision making,” said Antoine Robillard, vice president of Withings Health Solutions, in an email. “Hypertensive pregnancy disorders (HDP) develop rapidly and intensify rapidly. Home monitoring is necessary for critical interventions that HDP requires, especially for women in communities that are not related to transport and access to attention.” “” “” “”. “” “” “” “” “”. “” “”.

The CEO and co -founder of Babyscripts, Anish Sebastian, echoed Robillard’s comments.

“Withings has developed a device that is not only of superior use of the FDA and easy to use, but is also designed with the inclusion in the mind, an essential consultation for the various communities we serve,” Sebastian said in an email. “By integrating the BPM Pro 2 withms into our platform, we are advancing our ability to provide high quality equitable care.”

The announcement occurs shortly after the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists published a new orientation that recommends the use of Telesalud to support pregnancies and regular monitoring of blood pressure.

Hypertensive pregnancy disorders are becoming more common, and currently affect approximately 15% of women who spend their reproductive years. While many women experience symptoms such as persistent headaches and swelling, some women have no remarkable symptoms. That is what this association aims to address.

“Our goal is to provide patients with the best possible tools to handle the duration of the risk of hypertension and after pregnancy,” Sebastian said. “This association strengthens our ability to proactively address one of the main taxpayers to morbidity and maternal mortality. Ultimately, we aim to reduce complications related to hypertension and close gaps in care for this Spulner tape.”

Other companies that provide virtual maternal health support include Maven Clinic, Mae and Pomelo Care.
