Given his own childhood experiences, Tebogo is now in the mission of using the transforming power of sport to inspire the next generation in association with World Athletics.
He has been appointed ambassador of the Athletics Program for Children of the Governing Agency, whose objective is to encourage children to be more active.
“Athletics has given me so many opportunities, and I want young people to create in themselves, dream big and enjoy sport,” he said.
“Basically shows them the address, because we have a lot of free time, we tend to do illegal things.
“We begin to steal, do drugs and all that.”
Tebogo’s
The president of World Athletics, Lord Sebastian Coe, believes that Tebogo’s personal qualities are as valuable as a model to follow.
“When a talent like Letsile arises, it shows other young talented athletes the way,” Lord Coe said.
“Letsile is safe, determined and humble, and is already inspiring a whole generation of potential athletes and children.”
Tebogo returned to one of his old training fields, MMA Masire, on Wednesday he participated in a relay challenge with more than 1,000 children.
“I always spend here after training,” he explained.
“I go to the flashbacks that I come from here and now I am a global star.
“You just have to capitalize on the little one you have and make sure to pursue your goals.”
