Valkyries beat Mystics, notch first win in franchise history

San Francisco – A cold shooting night did not stop the Golden State Valkyries To make history on Wednesday night.

Faced with another crowd sold 18,064, the Valkyries defeated the Washington Mystics 76-74, marking their first victory in the history of the franchise.

Golden State triggered 31.9% from the field and 18.9% from the three -point line, but kept the mystics under control.

Veronica Burton did everything on the floor for Golden State, scoring 20 points, snatching nine rebounds and distributing five assists. Kayla Thornton added 18 points.

In his debut in the season, French striker Janelle Salaün totaled 10 points and grabbed four rebounds.

Washington’s guard, Brittney Sykes, led all scorers with 30 points.

In a final quarter final, the Valkyries were the ones that hit all the great shots.

A 3 of Burton with less than two remaining minutes gave Golden State an advantage of a point. In the following possession, Thornton hit An Y-1 3 from the left corner to push the advantage to five.
