VIBHA PADALKAR, MD & CEO, HDFC LIFE INSURANCE

HDFC Life Insurance has reported an interannual increase of 15.76 percent in its net gain to ₹ 476.54 million rupees for the fourth fiscal trimester. What were the factors that contributed to this growth??

Mainly, the gain of the back book, that the policies that the policies we sell sold every year before this year (FY25) are generating profits very well. The persistence is also good, so the policies are still in our books, already measure that the client pays his cousin, we collect the positions of that, and that has accumulated to a good number. The growth in that (benefit of the book book) has been 18 percent for the quarter.

Duration The quarter, the net income of premium also grew 15.99 percent year -on -year to ₹ 23,765.56 million rupees …

All categories grew very well. In fact, our protection segment grew almost 19 percent year -on -year for the quarter. The annuity also grew very well, grew by 19 percent with the year. Then it has been a fairly holistic growth. The annuities are mostly individual premium, which published very good growth. In addition, some of our unique premium products linked to the unit recorded good growth. The group also grew quite well.

All categories grew very well. In fact, our protection segment grew almost 19 percent year -on -year for the quarter. The annuity also grew very well, also grew by 19 and and percent. Then it has been a fairly holistic growth. The annuities are mostly individual premium, which published very good growth. In addition, some of our unique premium products linked to the unit recorded good growth. The group also grew quite well.

How the ULIPS Q4FY25 segment performance in the midst of market volatility?

Ulips saw quite good growth levels. Then, there has not been a particular slowdown in the linked unit. We saw a growth of 13 percent year -on -year in the quarter. Actually, volatility has not really affected the linked unit, at least for now. I can’t say in the future, but at least for now, we are not seeing. People may be thinking that this will also happen. In general, people who buy a product linked to the unit are a bit larger. They are a bit more experimental.

As a percentage of terms, how much is Ulips the annualized premium (APE) equivalent of the company? Do you see that the percentage could change in the future?

About 39 percent currently. It moves a little. But we would like it to be tied. We would like to reduce it to 35-36 percent. We would like to grow the PAR segment (participating insurance plans) more.

How much did you grow up killing the last quarter?

It grew almost 10 percent at the total level. Given all volatility, etc., we will grow faster than the sector (in terms of APE) in fiscal year 26. We will also deliver a margin of united range. So, our VNB (new business value) will be in line with the growth of APE. VNB grew by 12 percent year -on -year for the quarter. The margin of VNB grew 40 basic points yoy by 26.5 percent. The growth of the margin of VNB will be with a range to the current financial year.
