The former American senator Richard Shelby from Alabama was awarded recent with the Alabama ‘Legislator of the Year’ Rural Health Associations Award ‘at the 2023 annual conference in Hoover.
“Senator Shelby and his staff were always receiving our defense of rural health problems and other issues that affect Alabama rural,” said Farrell Turner, president of the Alabama Rural Health Association (ARHA).
Arha is the state leader in rural support and promotion. With a membership of more than 1,000 health professionals throughout the State, the association is one of the largest in the Nation and defends by the legislation and the beneficial policy for rural suppliers and facilities. In addition, the Association provides education and training to medical care suppliers in rural communities throughout the State.
Former Senator Shelby received this award due to his career to support rural health legislation. This legislation included the Laws of Rural Hospitals of Save of 2020 and 2021, the Law of the Model of Fair of Medicare of 2017 and multiple invoices that support the Telesalud, the broadband and other elements that support rural health.
“Former Senator Shelby is an exemplary leader in policies and public service,” said David L. Albright, PhD, elected president of Arha. “We are grateful for professional legislation for the construction of legislation and holding communities in Rural Alabama.”
