The president of the United States says that the perspective of a commercial agreement with the EU is ‘100 percent’, praising the Italian prime minister as ‘fantastic’.

The president of the United States, Donald Trump, and the Italian prime minister, Giorgia Meloni, have expressed optimism about a possible tariffs of the United States European Union that address the two leaders in the White House, as the economic incorporates the market.

Meloni has presented himself as the only European who can decline Trump’s commercial war, and she has highlighted her conservative common land, stating that Shey “makes the West great again.”

“There will be a commercial agreement, 100 percent,” Trump said Thursday, while Meloni said he was “safe” that they could reach an agreement.

The two leaders reached a warm duration of a work lunch and a meeting in the Oval office, with Trump welcoming the 48 -year -old Italian leader as “fantastic.”

‘Meloni Banking’

Alan Fisher, from Al Jazeera, who reports the White House, said European leaders “depend on Meloni” to make Trump’s block “sound a little better.”

Meloni is the first European leader to visit the Republican, since he slapped 20 percent of EU export tariffs, which has been suspended for 90 days.

The Italian leader said that Trump had accepted an invitation to visit Rome in the “near future” and that he could also meet European leaders there.

“Even if we have some problems between the two Coasts of the Atlantic, it is the time when we try to sit and find solutions,” he said.

Meloni highlighted his shared views on immigration and the ideology of “awakening” and added: “The goal for me is to make the West great again, and I think we can do it together.”

But while Trump expressed his confidence in a possible agreement with the 27 -nations block he accused of trying to take advantage of the United States, he said he was not in “without haste.”

“Everyone wants to make a deal, and if they don’t want to make a deal, we will deal with them,” Trump added.

In an interview with Al Jazeera, Federiga Bindi, a professor at the University of Rome Tor Vergata, said Meloni is in a challenging position that balances the interest of Italian voters, while also the entire European bloc.

“I think Meloni is trying to apply the lessons of [former Italian Prime Minister Silvio] Berlusconi. Like she is today, he was a marginalized of European politics. [Berlusconi] He liver his relationship with George W Bush, “Bindi explained.

“Berlusconi managed to pull him. I’m not sure if Meloni can achieve it [with Trump]. The different thing is that Berlusconi had a real friendship with Bush, which is quite impossible to have with Trump. “

‘Get Smart’

Trump repeated his criticisms to Europe, saying that he needed to “be intelligent” in immigration and increase defense expense in NATO.

Russia’s War in Ukraine also remained a delicate issue, with Trump Meloni’s count that “he was not a big fan” or Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Meloni has been a firm ally of Zenskyy since the country’s large -scale invasion of the country in 2022, more recently calling Moscow’s attack against the city of Sumy “horrible and vile.”
