The Jeddah Corniche circuit is one of the fastest street circuits in the world. Its combination of high speeds, 27 corners and the always accentuated walls lead to the drivers to the limit and punish the smallest errors.

That was the destination of the duration of Lando Norris that he described for the Formula 1 Prize of Saudi Arabia.

In another week he saw Norris enter the qualification as the favorite, the McLaren driver came out at the wrong end of the procedures. Last week it was at the Bahrain Grand Prix, where Norris could only qualify the sixth after running for three practice sessions. On Saturday, throughout the Red Sea, Norris again entered the qualification as the favorite, but a durable duration, his first race in the Q3 saw him hit the wall at the exit of curve 5, finishing his dreams of possessing in pole:

While the important thing is that Norris was fine after the impact, the slight error opened by Max Verstappen to snatch the pole position and raised more questions about the fight for the pilot championship.

“I am disappointed today,” Norris begged to talk to Sky Sports F1 After its abrupt output of the qualification.

“I know that I have to wait tomorrow and I will go now and I will see my engineers and look forward to what we can do tomorrow. We know that the car is good, we know that the car is fast,” McLaren’s driver continued. “I’ll go see my engineers and apologize and then what we can do tomorrow, I will try a good plan. But tomorrow we will need some luck.

“It is a bone a weekend so soft and positive so far, so disappointed to have a setback,” Norris continued when he spoke with the official F1 channel.

“I have to take it on the chin.”

Norris minimized his possibilities of a load in front, noting that the overtaking is difficult to punish the Jeddah Corniche circuit.

“It’s so different, it’s almost impossible to advance here, so I don’t expect anything magical,” Norris added when talking with Sky Sports F1. “But we have a good car. If we can advance to the first five or six, it would be happy.

“Oscar was in pole, our rhythm was clearly not much better than Max. Even George [Russell] He is not so far, so I think that approaching them is not very realistic, but trying to reach the first five is probably our goal. “

Norris entered the weekend with just a three -point advantage over Piaastri in the pilot championship, with Verstappen only eight points of his rhythm. But since the drivers will be aligned to start Sunday’s Saudi prize, there are many possibilities that Norris is looking at one, or more, to drivers in the classification on Monday morning.

Even so, the team around him promised to pick him up before the race.

“Just concentrate in the race. It will probably be a unique race, but the high probability of security cars here,” said McLaren CEO, Zak Brown. Sky Sports F1 When asked how the team will prepare it for Sunday.

“So grant in the races, do our best and see if we can get above in the network.

“It will certainly be faster than it described.”

Is it enough to maintain your leadership in the pilot championship?
