The governor of Iowa, Kim Reynolds (R), signed legislation on Friday that will change state law to allow 18 -year -olds to possess and carry guns.

Holt said: “I joined the Marines when I was 18, I graduated from the training camp when I was 18 years old. I had firearms in the army, ready to defend my country when I was 18, along with sinks of thousands of other young men and women.”
He added: “Then, the idea that an 18 -year -old, a 19 -year -old, is not entitled to not have the right to have a firearm in the protection of their families, which is really the second amendment, right?”
The state senator Art Staed (D) opposed the legislation when he was in the Senate, arguing, “reducing the age to buy guns will not save any life.”
He affirms that allowing the 18 -year -olds to have for their own defense “will cost lives” and said: “We maintain this common sense protection in Iowa instead. We keep the age at 21.”
