Pope Francis appears on Easter Sunday at St. Peter’s Square as he continues recovery

Pope Francis made a letter of appearance on Easter Sunday to bless the thousands of people in the Plaza de San Pedro while continuing his recovery from a Almost fatal combat or double pneumonia.

“Brothers and sisters, happy Easter!” Francis said, his voice sounds stronger than since his hospitalization. “Long live il dad!” (Long Vive The Pope), the crowd responded.

Francis passed through the square in his Popemobile of the head open and then climbed and went down the main avenue that leads it. He occasionally stopped to bless criticized babies, a scene that was common in the past but unthinkable a few weeks ago while Francis, 88, fought for his life.

Since his hospital release almost a month ago, Francis has slowly returned to work and has made several Sunday appearances in St. Peter’s Square, for relief and worship of the Crowd that meets every weekend. The solemn services of Good Friday and Holy Saturday was skipped before Easter, but he hoped his leg appeared on Sunday.

Unlike past years, the 88 -year -old pontiff did not celebrate the Easter Mass in La Piazza, delegating it to Cardinal Angelo Comastri, the retired Archipiest or the Basilica of San Pedro.

But after the mass ended, Francis appeared on the loggia balcony on the entrance of the basilica for more than 20 minutes. The thousands of people then exploded in cheers when a military band began rounds of the Holy See and the Italian hymns.

Francis greeted from the balcony and then asked an archbishop of the Vatican to read his speech, a global call for peace in the hot points of the world that is the distinctive seal of the Vatican Easter celebrations. Then, hey taught the apostolic blessing in Latin.

Easter is the most cheerful moment in the Christian liturgical calendar, when the faithful celebrate the resurrection of Christ after their crucifixion. This year, Easter is being held the same day by Orthodox Catholics and Christians.

Easter in the Vatican traditionally involves a mass and the Urbi et Orbi blessing of the Pope (Latin for “the city and the world”), a pronounced papal speech of the lodge, which is common a summary of global critical points and human suffering.

In the speech, read by Archbishop Diego Ravelli, a master of liturgical ceremonies, Francis asked peace in Loop and Ukraineas well as with the Congo, Myanmar and in other critical points.

“That the risen Christ Ukraine, devastated by the war, his gift of peace of Easter, and encourages all the parties involved to make efforts destined to achieve a fair and lasting peace,” the message said. “In this year of Jubilee, May Easter is also an adequate occasion for the liberation of war prisoners and political prisoners!”
