To relieve tax payments, the Income Tax Department has been introduced the ‘electronic payment tax’ function in its official online portal, allowing users to pay without logging or using a password.

“It is an elegant, efficient and without Hasle method to fulfill its fiscal Bligations. This innovation is based comfortably on the official electronic filling portal and another significant jump towards the ease of compliance,” the department said in a notification.

Users can now pay taxes without registering. “There are no user names. Without passwords. There is no tail at its closest bank branch,” he added.

One needs to visit the portal, www.incometax.gov.in. There you have to look for the option of ‘Electronic Payment Tax’ in the section ‘Fast links’.

The taxpayer will be asked to enter his bread twice, along with a mobile number. An OTP will be sent to the registered mobile number. Once the OTP is entered, the system will be ready for the tax payment process.

Users can choose between several payment options, such as regular income tax, anticipation tax, self -evaluation tax or other chiefs of application. After selecting the relevant category, taxpayers must complete the details: basic tax, surcharge, interest and fine (if applicable).

Before processing, a comprehensive summary of payment details will be displayed. After confirmation, the taxpayer will receive an SMS and an email recognizing the payment. The payment receipt (Challan) cannot be used to download instantly.

According to the department, it is not only a technological update, but it reflects a change in the way in which the government is choosing to interact with taxpayers, simplifying all contact points of the service. The characteristic also promotes a culture of timely compliance by eliminating friction in the tax payment process.
