The Los Angeles Chargers will face the Detroit Lions in the annual game of the Hall of Fame as part of the Inhrinement week.
The Hall announced the confrontation for July 31, Wednesday with the Chargers playing only a few days before the closed wing of Long Time Antonio Gates will be included in the Hall of Fame of Professional Soccer.
Gates will join three other candidates for the modern era with Eric Allen, Jared Allen and Sterling Sharpe also included on August 2.
The lions will be designed as the local team for the game after going 15-2 last season before losing in the divisional round against Washington. The chargers had 11-6 and arrived at the playoffs as a wild card team in the first season of coach Jim Harbaugh.
This will be the fourth trip to Canton for the lions and the third for the chargers. Detroit played for the last time in the game in 1991, beating Denver 14-3. The last appearance for the chargers in the game of the Hall of Fame was a 21-17 defeat against Atlanta in 1994.
The game will be transmitted by NBC.
