The bomb explosions destroyed the houses of two suspended local terrorists to participate in Phalgam’s terrorist attack on Friday.

The explosions took place within the houses of Asif Sheikh and Adil Thker.

Shiekh is suspended to participate in Pahalgam’s terrorist attack, while Thokar has been appointed as one of the main accused by the police.

Shiekh belonged to the southern Tral area of Kashmir, while Thokar is a native of the Anantnag district.

On April 22, the terrorists hit Baisaran Meadows in Pahalgam, about 92 km south of Srinagar, and killed 26 people, including a local tourist guide.

Shortly after the attack, the security agencies published the sketches of the suspicious terrorists and in the initial investigation, the names of Sheikh and Thokar emerged.

The sources said the authorities demolished the houses of both terrorists when flying them, using explosives.

However, the police said that turning a search operation in Sheikh’s house, security forces found some suspicious objects.

“Feeling the danger, the security forces were quickly retracting for security, but there was a great explosion in which a house was very damaged. It seems that the house stored an explosive material,” said the police.

The police sources said that no loss of lives was reported since the area was clear and that the family members were evacuated.

Before 2019, South Kashmira was considered the epicenter of the militancy, with frequent battles of weapons reported by the region. However, in the last five years, the area has witnessed relative calm, and less local young people join militant ranges.
