A driver hit a SUV in a multitude of attendees to the Filipino Festival in Vancouver, Canada, on Saturday night, killing several people and leaving many more wounds, according to the authorities.
“Several people have been killed and several others are killed after a driver led to a crowd at a street festival in E. 41st Avenue and Fraser shortly after 8 pm tonight,” wrote the Vancouver Police Department in X.
The car driver is in custody, declared VPD. It was not clear why the driver ran into the crowd.
Festival attendees were celebrating Lapu Lapu Day, a holiday in honor of the Filipino heritage, according to the local news of the city.
The black SUV that the festival was shown with a crushed front hood and had deployed air bags in the driver’s side window, according to the video that circulates online.
The festival images showed a direct butcher shop, with Kured Bees boxes attended for the first response and civilians in an idyllic street covered with broken pieces of cars and full of food trucks.
“There is a baby there! There is a baby under the truck,” shouted the cameraman half -arrived. Oh sir, “he said later.
Some victims seem seriously injured while laying motionless and bloody on the street.
A victim is seen desperately, while the boxes of other lifeguards make crazy scripts to help injured.
“I am surprised and deeply sad for the horrible incident at the Lapu Lapu day event today. We will work to provide more information as we can,” wrote Ken Sim, mayor of Vancouver, in X.
“Our thoughts are with all those affected and with the Filipina community of Vancouver duration of this incredible difficult moment,” added the mayor.
