Repeated threats for us to trust Greenland about Nielsen’s first visit to Denmark since he assumed the position.

The Prime Minister of Greenland and his Danish counterpart have presented a united front, criticizing the administration of the president of the United States, Donald Trump, for lack of respect in his designs to dimension the Arctic Island, a self -governor Danish territory.

“Never, we will never be a property that I can buy for anyone, and that is the message that I think is more important to understand,” said Jens-Frederik Nielsen to journalists on Sunday at a joint press conference in Copenhagen Meto Meto.

Trump’s repeated threats to take care of Greenland was coming about Nielsen’s first visit to Denmark since he assumed the position this month.

Nielsen’s visit follows one from Frederiksen to Greenland in early April when he told the United States: “This is not just Greenland or Denmark. This is the world order we have built together in the Atlantic. Security.”

Both Frederiksen and Nielsen, who lead the new Greenland coalition government after their Democratic party in the center of the right won legislative elections in March, said they would be willing to meet the US leader for conversations.

The tensions between the United States and Denmark have shot after Trump repeatedly said that he wanted to take control of Greenland rich in resources for security reasons, refusing to rule out the use of force to ensure it.

“I think we need that for international peace, and if we don’t have that, it’s a great threat to our world. So I think Groenland is very important for international peace,” Trump told journalists on Thursday during the young press conference Jonas Gah.

We “have not been respectful”

Nielsen also said Sunday that Greenland was working to strengthen his relations with Denmark due to the “disrespectful” rhetoric of the United States. “Now we are in a situation in which we need to be together. The United States talk does not have a respectful leg,” said Nielsen.

“I totally agree with that,” Frederiksen added.

Nielsen reiterated that Greenland was ready to deepen ties with the United States.

“We are ready for a solid association, we are ready for greater development, but we want respect,” he said. “You can’t have a partner where there is no mutual respect.”

The United States Vice President JD Vance visited Greenland in March, which both Nuuk and Copenhagen saw as a provocation.

Duration his trip to the military base of the United States of Pituffik, Vance punished Denmark for not having done a good job by the people of Greenland. “

“You have invested in the people of Greenland, and you have invested in the security architecture of this incredible and beautiful land mass,” he said.

Danish Foreign Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen replied on social networks: “We are open to criticism, but let me be completely honest, we do not appreciate the tone in which it is being delivered.”

Nielsen himself has said: “The United States will not obtain Greenland.”

“We do not belong to anyone else. We decided our own future,” he added in a Facebook post.

Duration of your two -day visit to Copenhagen, Nielsen will also meet with King Frederik of Denmark and representatives of the Danish Parliament.

In a separate statement, the Royal House of Denmark said the king would accompany Nielsen to Greenland for a visit.

The surveys show a fixed majority of the 57,000 people in Greenland because they become independent of Denmark, but do not want to be part of the United States.
