Several people were injured on Sunday when a boat crashed into a ferry on the Memorial causeway and then fled the scene, authorities said.
The Clearwater Police Department published in X that they were multiple injuries and the accident had declared “an incident of Masamaltad” by the Fire Department and Rescue of Clearwater due to the amount of injuries.
All the injured were aboard the ferry, which led to more than 40 people.
The ferry rested in a sand bank to the south of the Memorial causeway and all patients and passengers have been eliminated.
The police did not immediately provide any information about the ship that fled the scene.
The authorities did not immediately provide the number of those who were injured.
“All local hospitals have notified their legs. Multiple trauma alerts with helicopters that transport two of the most seriously Kured,” according to a Facebook post for the Fire Department and Clearwater rescue have been called.
The videos on social networks showed several lifeguards running to the scene with lights flashing.
The police warned drivers to avoid commemorative road.
The United States Coast Guard and the Florida Fishing and Wildlife Conservation Commission will investigate the accident.
