Air India Express New President, Nipun Aggarwal
In a strategic movement, Air India Group has started a Rejig at the Board level in its low -cost subsidiary Air India Express (AIX) to generate greater coordination between the budget and full -service carriers.
Consequently, Campbell Wilson, CEO or Air India, has resigned as president of the low -cost airline. Wilson is happened by Nipun Aggarwal, a member of the Aix Board.
He has his new role, Aggarwal will continue his duties as commercial director of Air India.
Wilson communicated the measure to employees through internal communication, which has been reviewed by Businessline.
Structural changes
In communication, Wilson told employees that in the last 18 months, many critical structural changes have been completed to transform group reconstruction.
He listed the recent fusion of four airlines in two, the consolidation of teams that do not become in Gurugram, and refreshing the Air India and Air India Express leadership teams such as the complete tasks.
“With this structural work to a large extent, the task in question is now to take advantage of and completely optimize the fleet, network, sales, distribution and loyalty of the group.
“Competitive, to guarantee the operational synergy between the airlines, Captain Basil Kwauk, director of Operations of Air India, will replace me at the Air India Express Board once the necessary regulatory approvals are ensured.”
Sources said Business lineThat the group’s CEO was no longer necessary to supervise the LCC, since structural changes such as merger, leadership renewal, system interface and the best communication and collaboration structures between the full service and the low -cost airlineshave bone.
“Aix will benefit greatly as Aggarwal and Kwauk take stronger roles in the Aix Board. The movement will introduce more productivity since commercial functions and operations are well coordinated,” sources told Business line.
“Wilson will obviously continue to be responsible for the performance of the general group. It can intervene if the need arises.”
Currently, Air India Express operates around 500 daily flights. Connect 39 national airports and 17 with a fleet or 110 airplanes.
Businessline had previously reported that the airline plans to expand its national network, add more airplanes and increase daily flight frequencies in fiscal year 2016.
The airline is guided by a five -year transformation program, known as V1rise.
