The former head of Isro and president of the Drafting Committee behind the new National National Education Policy (NEP) Kasturirangan died Friday in Bangalore, authorities said.
He was 84 years old.
“He went to Celesty Abodee this morning at his residence in Bengaluru. His body will remain at the Raman Research Institute (RRI) to pay the last respect on April 27,” officials said.
Known as the man behind the educational reforms listed in false, Kasturirangan had served as Chancellor of the Jawaharlal Nehru University and president of the Karnataka Knowledge Commission.
He had also served as a member of Rajya Sabha (2003-09) and as a member of the then Indian Planning Commission.
Kasturirangan was also director of the National Institute of Advanced Studies of Bangalore from April 2004 to 2009.
