JSW Steel Italy Piombino Spa (JSW Italy), a total property subsidiary of JSW Steel, has signed a development contract with the Ministry of Business and made in Italy, the Tuscan region and L’A Aguenzia Nazionale Byppra Spa.
The development contract intends to revive the historically important industrial site ‘Steelworks of Piombino’, through the modernization of facilities and the improvement of industrial activity.
According to the contract, JSW Steel Italy Piombino Spa is being granted a subsidy or 33 thousand of the Italian government.
The subsidy is towards the development of the Railway Modernization Project that is implemented by JSW in Piombino at an estimated cost of the project of € 143 million. This project will almost double the capacity of the railroad factory of approximately 0.32 MTPA at 0.6 MTPA, which will also allow JSW Italy to improve the length of the rails that are carried out in JSW Italy from 108 meters to 120 meters.
