The flight operations at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj (CSMIA) International Airport in the city will remain closed for six hours on May 8, due to the maintenance work of the track before the Monzón season, the Private Airport OPERDAY.
Mumbai International Airport Ltd (Mial) also said that the mandatory notam (notice to aviators) was issued six months in advance to notify all interested parties, allowing airlines to adjust their flight schedules in advance and consequently.
The programmed maintenance work prior to the monsoon on the tracks 2/09 and 14/32, will be carried out between 11 am and 17 PM, Mial said.
Duration This period both the main track (27/27) and the secondary track (14/32) will be temporarily non -operational, he said.
This annual maintenance prior to the monsoon is crucial to preserve the health and longevity of airport’s air infrastructure, he added.
The specialists will inspect the surfaces of the track for wear, addressing the preventive measures for flooding to guarantee a safe landing and the duration of the monsoon season, Mial said.
