Take -Off late: Mangaluru airport expects land acquisition to create a second ‘basic track safety strip’

At the Mangaluru airport, efforts to improve operational security have resorted to a renewed impulse to create a basic safety safety strip ”.

A ‘basic track safety strip’ is an area adjacent to the length of the track that is designed to increase the safety of aircraft duration, landings and excursions on the track.

It extends for a distance prescribed to each side of the central line of the track. The Mangaluru airport has a basic safety strip of the 140 m track one side of the track; It requires 32.97 acres to meet the requirement on the opposite side.

This strip is different from the ‘Final Security Area’ (RESA), at any end of the track, which meets the regulatory requirement at the Mangaluru airport.

It should be noted that the Mangaluru airport has leased to the Mangaluru LTD International Airport (Mial) or Adani Group, under a public-private partnership model (PPP), by the Indian Airport Authority (AAI).

Mial had estimated the additional land requirement for the second basic track safety strip.

A step forward

Recent developments indicate that there have been some progress in the matter.

In a response to Lok Sabha on February 6, the Ministry of Civil Aviation declared that he had asked the Karnataka government to deliver the land to AAI for free.

“However, Gok (Karnataka Government) had not accepted the same as Mangalore airport is operated under PPP.

“Subsequently, AAI has directed by Moca to address the matter according to the guidelines of the economic regulatory authority of the airports India to ensure that the operational safety and efficiency of the airport are maintained while mitigating any tigating,” mitigating “Thesid Sid.

Participating in a debate by Lok Sabha, the member of the Captain of Chowta, a member of the Dakshina Kannada Parliament, highlighted the obstacles facing the airport regarding the acquisition of land for the improvement of security and expansion needs.

The district administration has asked the Karnataka government, which has written to AAI and is now willing to facilitate the land acquisition process.

In an interaction with Mediapersons on April 10, Chowta said he recently had with the Minister of Civil Aviation of the Union, Ram Mohan Naidu, and the order for land acquisition will be published soon.

Anand Pai, president of the Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said Business line That the acquisition of land is meean to improve the safety of people who enter and leave mangaluru.

The strengthening of the basic safety strip of the track with the mandatory space will reinforce the confidence of the flyers.

For the pilots, the strengthening of said safety infrastructure will prove to be a blessing to help the precise landings duration of heavy rains or fog, thus avoiding delays or flight cancellations, he added.
