The Confederation of all merchants in India (CAIT) together with other industry agencies has sought political measures such as the application of the IED law and electronic commerce policies, and the expulsion of electronic commerce rules under the consumer protection law.
Cait together with the Association of Mobile Retales of All India (AIMRA), the Federation of Distributors of Consumer Products of India (AICPDF) and the Association of Organized Retalesses (ORA) have also proposed the collection of L under L under GST Luxury taxes on purchases made through trade.
Industry agencies said that the traditional retail sector is under siege by comrades of electronic commerce and rapid commerce and claimed that they are “blatantly violating the laws, manipulating the markets and systematically dismantling the small retailers for profit.”
Industry agencies plan to present their recommendation to the Ministry of Commerce and the Ministry of Consumer Affairs. Cait said that a large -scale national campaign will be launched from May 1 to protect and promote the interests of traditional retailers. Local commercial associations in each city and State will be involved and recommendations will be presented to state and central government officials.
