TruJet seeks Centre’s nod to restart operations

Approximately three years after closing the operations, the Trujet regional airline (old known as Turbo Megha Airways) has sought the wink of the center to restart its operations, industry sources told Businessline.

Consequently, Trujet was a low -cost regional airline, operated from 2015 to 2022, was based on Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad.

The operations ceased in February 2022 due to the financial crisis unleashed by the Covid pandemic.

The airline had received the initial approach to operate “programmed air transport services” of the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MOCA) of the Union in 2014.

According to the sources, the airline has requested the Renwal of the NOC (without objection certificate) of Moca and has made representations of the Ministry officials about their plans.

“The NOC of the Ministry is expected to be granted son, after which the airline would be required Business line.

“AOP’s renewal is expected to take up to 180 days.”

In addition, to begin operations, Trujet would require the security authorization of its key personnel, including the Board of Directors.

However, the sources said the airline has proposed to restart operations with some airbopropulsor at Hyderabad aircraft for August-September 2025.

In addition, the airline plans to participate in the UDAN regional connectivity scheme of the center.

National Network

In addition to Ars, Trujet plans to induce narrow body airplanes to expand its national network.

“I thought the plan is in the initial stages, the airline plans to buy some airbus A320 market manuals in Africa and other places,” the sources said.

“These narrow body airplanes will be based at Vishhakhapatnam airport.”

The plan to introduce narrow body airplanes is expected to introduce action by the end of this year or early 2026.

In addition, the sources said that the airline representatives have claimed to have a “solid” financial support of a set of new investors.

“For ATR operations with five airplanes, the airline plans to start investing around ₹ 100 million rupees and hire some people,” the sources said, and added that the industry has recently attracted the players due to their high growth rate; However, strong taxes still prevent many from entering the industry.

Recent data have shown that domestic passenger traffic from India grew by 11 percent in an year -on -year base in February 2025.

According to DGCA data, the country’s national flight operators transported around 1.40 passengers of millions of rupees in February, compared to 1.26 million rupees a year ago.

Trujet is a Turbo Aviation subsidiary, an aircraft maintenance and land management services with Hyderabad.

Before closing operations, the airline had identified 18 cities of level II in southern India as prospective destinations in its regional network.
