Carbon High School is turning a new page in its football program with the hiring of a familiar face. A Carbon County native and Carbon High graduate, Nick Milovich, the Dinos’ new head football coach brings not only local pride but years of coaching experience and a strong vision for the future of the team.
Raised right here in Carbon County, the new coach knows firsthand what it means to wear the Dinos jersey.
“I was born and raised here and graduated from Carbon High,” he said. “I played both football and soccer during my time as a student-athlete.”
Now stepping into the top role, the coach reflects on a journey that began on the same fields he now leads. His coaching career spans over eight years, starting with six years at Carbon High as the Junior Varsity Head Coach and Offensive Coordinator for varsity, followed by a year leading the program at Helper Junior High, before coming full circle as head coach of the Carbon Dinos.
For Milovich, coaching isn’t just about winning games—it’s about developing young men of character.
“I believe in creating a positive environment by being transparent and honest in expectations. I challenge the boys to be a part of something greater than themselves,” he explained.
When it comes to selecting players and determining playing time, he focuses on qualities that extend beyond raw talent.
“The players who represent the program well, who motivate their teammates, show up every day with enthusiasm, and are ready to contribute in meaningful ways—those are the ones who play.”
Off the field, the coach enjoys the outdoors and spending quality time with his loved ones.
“Fishing and spending time with friends and family are my favorite offseason activities,” he shared.
But once the season is underway, his passion shifts fully to the gridiron—and the community he serves.
“I remind the kids that they are more than just players. They represent our great county every time they put on that jersey,” he said. “They’re setting an example for classmates, siblings, younger kids, and the adults who come out to support them.”
While victories on the scoreboard matter, Coach Milovich emphasizes that his ultimate goals go deeper.
“Winning is fun,” he said, “but building positive team values is most important. The ability to work together to achieve a task has lifelong benefits. Winning happens when all the little things are done right.”
His message to the team is simple but powerful: “Have courage, be kind, and win the day.”
With a hometown coach at the helm who understands the tradition, culture, and heart of Carbon County, the Dinos football program is poised not just for a season of change—but one of lasting impact.
