Although the NBA awards have not yet been announced official, Chris Broussard of Fox Sports has presented its vote and has shared them in “first the first things.”
Some of his elections, he said, were pinches. He “remains torn” in the defensive player of the year, and had a different MVP to the fifth classified than the fifth player in his first All-Nba team. But he had confidence with his most valuable selection of players, the sixth man of the year and the rookie of the year.
This is how their selections and the reasoning behind them were seen:
Broussard voted for Oklahoma City Shai Gilgous-Alexander as his most valuable player about Nikola Jokic and Giannis Antetokounmpo because as a bidirectional star and leads to an inexpected team to the NBA.
“Shai Gilgeous-Alexander directed the youngest team in the NBA to more than 60 victories. In fact, they won 68, 18 more than Jokic and his list of championship levels,” Broussard said. “Shai played defense at the level of the entire League. So it is there. He is a great defender. Thirdly, he led the league in games of 20 points, 30 points, 40 and 50 points this season, and broke the NBA record with points games to average 32 points per game and do so with a 50 percent shot.
He filled the fourth and fifth places with Jayson Tatum and Gift Cunningham.
The first four players in their MVP ranking each made their first All-NBA team, and he changed Cunningham for Anthony Edwards because he thought he had a better individual season.
“I think (Edwards) is a better defender than the gift. He is a caliber defender of the entire league. “I think Kat is just a better player,” Broussard replied. “Obviously, notes more, it moves more, it is more efficient, shooting 42 percent of 3.”
His third team included James Harden, Tyrese Haliburton, Jalen Brunson, Evan Mobley and Senguun.
Defensive player of the year: Evan Mobley
Evan Mobley was also Broussard’s Dpoy, and selected it for little about Atlanta Hawks, Dyson Daniels.
“(Mobley) can protect the 3, you can protect the edge, you can protect all points in the middle,” Broussard said. “It’s great, and it’s the anchor of one of the best defenses in the league.”
Broussard put Drayond Green Third for DPOY and, ultimately, selected Daniels as his most improved player.
“Dyson Daniels is only the eleventh time in the history of the NBA that a player has averaged at least three robberies for play,” Broussard said.
The best of the rest
Broussard introduced the Cavaliers chief coach Kenny Atkinson, as his coach of the year. Atkinson took Cleveland of a team of 48 victories at 64, and a “legitimate contender of the championship” in just his first year in the helmet.
Broussard chose Malik Beasley as his sixth man of the year because he intervened as the second best player of the Detroit Pistons after Jaden Ivey was hurt.
Finally, he chose Stephon Castle of San Antonio as his rookie of the year and Brunson as his clutch player of the year.
