The first round of the NFL 2025 is in the books, and we did not obtain the expected fireworks. After the amazing exchange that led the Jaguars to No. 2, we had a first round, of ophfusing, which really did not ally with much of the process prior to the draft.
Now we stayed with Shedeur Sanders on the board, only two quarterback tasks, and one of the most incredibly not sensible shops in recent memory.
Winner: The Jaguars and the Browns
This was a case in which two teams found a common land and delivery in a beneficial mutual trade that should boost both teams towards their goal. The exchange was rumored for much of the afternoon, but it felt unlikely to happen, until Jacksonville gave Cleveland a massive tour so they could ascend to take through Travis Hunter.
It is a calculated risk of JAGS. Giving up No. 5, a second and its 2026 1st is a lot of draft capital to get Hunter, but none of that matters if they win. If Liam Coen can enter and solve the offensive problems that this team had under Doug Pederson, then the AFC South could easily win, and then they are laughing.
Cruialy: The Jaguars have a vision. Something that the era of Trent Baalke/Pederson lacked a lot, and [shudder] Urban Meyer before that. They chose an offensive coach for a reason, and with Brian Thomas Jr. in the fold as the no. 1 receiver makes a lot of sense to obtain a Swiss knife from a weapon that can have an impact on any phase of the game that touches.
Meanwhile, the Browns recognize that the Browns are made to do, and this was the draft to do so. The Cleveland approach must be to leave its Dehaun Watson debacle and find the correct QB at the right time. That could happen tonight in the second round with more talent on the board, but at least the Browns improved a lot with the incorporation of Mason Graham, and has tools in this draft and beyond to rebuild competitively.
This was a fantastic treatment for both sides.
Loser: Shedeur Sanders
It is stunning that we are in this position. I fully understand the concerns about the talent of your arm to throw the platform, and the mechanical problems in your pocket, but Nitpspicking has stupid gods with Sanders.
The NFL is in extremely good field marshal cheese that have no talent for elite level arms, from Jared Goff to Baker Mayfield to tua tagovaila. Then, seeing the tastes of Cameron Ward and Jaxson Dart not only go to Sanders, but the magnitude of getting it out of the first round is ridiculous.
If you are Sheteeur, things can feel quite well right now. There is a very real possibility that it lands in the Los Angeles Rams, which can sit down to Sanders and develop it behind Matthew Stafford, in an offensive much better than I would be subjected in a team with difficulties.
Winner: the ravens and the eagles … again
Water is law, and thesis teams did it again. Two of the best front offices in the NFL once again demonstrated why the class of the League, taking advantage of the teams that make meaningless selections ahead of them and working on the board.
Baltimore Landing S Malaki Starks is a ridiculous victory. It gives the Ravens one of the best security tandems that the League has seen at some time with Kyle Hamilton, another recent selection landed in the same way. Starks was a player who thought I could get as high as not. 13 to the Dolphins, and felt it was a good place for him. Instead, teams simply let Starks fall into an incredible place.
Similarly, the Eagles achieved a draft of their own robbery, taking LB Jihaad Campbell with the 31st selection. Campbell will land in Philadelphia, learn the defense and become an outstanding player in a quick order. This is a well -used road that Eagles only maintain, and it is worth it.
Loser: Atlanta Falcons
This has nothing to do with Jalon Walker’s team at number 15, that was fantastic. Walker was a robbery in that place and satisfies the greatest need in defense.
However, the draft was contaminated with the absolutely INE movement to move 20 spaces at the bottom of the first round to double immersion pass runners with James Pearce. It is the movement child that a team makes to add the final piece to a deep playoff team, not a desperate hope of an organization that could be choosing among the top 10 next year if Michael Penix Jr. is not transmitted.
What we know about Pearce is that he has talent, but many teams eliminated him from his Draft boards after interviewing him in Indianapolis. We have heard concerns about their work ethics, their behavior, almost everything in the Conerns range when it comes to mental makeup, so it was projected that it would be in the range of 28-32, not in the Top 20.
Are the hawks the geniuses that the rest of the NFL is not? The recent draft of history makes that a difficult argument to press. This would have a home run for the Falcons to Bone if he simply showed Walker and were sensitive to the rest of the way. Now they threw their first round 2026 selection for a player with many question signs.
Winner: Cameron Ward
Sitations like this only happen once on the blue moon, so Congrrats al Miami Qb to obtain its bag and become a general selection number 1. It was absolutely the wrong long -term movement for the Titans, who sacrificed land the two safe things in this draft (Travis Hunter and Abdul Carter) take a field marshal that would be the fifth or sixth pin of the board.
Loser: Dallas Cowboys
The cowboys found themselves in a difficult place. Tetaira McMillan seemed to be his chosen choice, just to see the NAB Panthers with four points before. Trapped in a country of a non-man, Dallas Tok a guy who will be initiator of the NFL and little else.
Tyler Booker is a NFL guard of the old school. It is great and strong, but it also accumulates, and lacks athletics. Booker can win at the point of attack if he has his hands on you, but his feet game is so slow that the rapid defensive cups can the first step left before making a difference.
Jerry and Stephen Jones basically pray that Booker is the second iteration of Zack Martin, who was a selection of homer for the franchise. If he has not done so, then he made a creator of games, he did not improve and essentially passed a twelfth general selection in an average talent.
I would have preferred to take a player who can be shocking, even if the need were there. Only improves. Do something. Instead, it is as if the Cowboys locked an offensive liner, and did not move away from that position even when three men used to be their choice.
