Leave Jerry Jones to pull the intrigue. The owner of the cowboys and the general manager has been famous for the acceleration quotes of the holders. So why would it be this different week?
Jones and the rest of the Cowboys Brain Trust held the annual press conference prior to the team’s draft on Tuesday, handling questions about their needs, desires and dreams for the next festivities.
True to his style, Jones raised his eyebrows not when talking about the selections he would, but the exchanges he could.
“We are looking at two things that could happen before or after the draft,” Jones told journalists. “Two quite substantive trades. I’ve been working today.”
That stands out for two obvious reasons.
First, the idea that something could happen after the draft. The transactions that take place before the Draft begins on Thursday could include anything, but an exchange after the draft is almost surely a maneuver for a veteran player, instead of 2026 Capital Draft. The second is the totally impolizing word “substantive.”
Cowboys are not strange from minor treatment in the league. Last month, corner Kaiir Elam and supporter Kenneth Murray Jr. acquired on Swaps of Day 3 Draft Picks. Respectful, those do not qualify as “nouns” movements.
To be noun, at least you would have to acquire proven creators. The capital that negotiated to acquire Brandin Cooks and Stephon Gilmore on the eve of the 2023 Draft was not surprising due to the size of their contracts, but it was a bean to add two certified entrants with some short phone calls.
As for the real box office successes, you would have to think in 2018, when they exchanged a first round selection for Amari Cooper. And that decision came in October, when his season was on the edge, long after the optimistic days that surrounded the NFL draft.
The recent history of the cowboys is full of draft trades, but a substantive exchange for a veteran player is not a regular occurrence.
However, it would make a lot of sense. Even while maintaining the general selection No. 12 in the draft, the cowboys have a lot of work to do, and most of their ammunition to do so is at the end of the dress. Dallas has three selections in the Top 100, and a huge five of Pick No. 200 without savings. If the cowboys look for an immediate impact, packaging an exchange for a provoke’s foreman, a veteran corner or an initial corridor could be the way to follow.
Now what would that be like? It depends on who Dallas is talking to.

We know that the Bowling player Proennial Pro Jalen Ramsey is available, since the Miami Dolphins have let it know. Ramsey turns 31 this year, and has approximately $ 21 million, but a player of his caliber is probably several years old as a viable holder, either in the corner or security, which went ahead of him. It would also be an infernal moment of a complete circle, since the cowboys passed to Ramsey in favor of Ezekiel Elliott Duration the 2016 NFL draft, for Ramsey’s disgust.
Speaking of the Dolphins, no one in the league is linked to as much commercial talk as Tyreek Hill these days. Hill has been hinting at the end of the season, and his current contract makes it difficult to imagine that he plays in Miami beyond 2025. Cowboys are not the type of team that influences the scrutiny and controversy that put that deal in view. If the Dolphins agreed to pay at least their guarantees of 2025, he thought, this is a treatment that the cowboys could balance to give their offense a very necessary impulse of explosiveness.
The Steelers receiver, George Pickens, has been a rumored commercial objective since DK Metcalf landed in Pittsburgh. The 24 -year -old has a year to remove in his rookie agreement and satisfy a great need in Dallas. It is strange to think that Steelers would do it because weakening a receiving group that looks incredible and strong in the 2025 season, but perhaps Pickens is the piece that would help them land their field marshal of the future.

If the Jacksonville Jaguars carry out a real monitoring of the exaggeration prior to the draft and make Ashton Jeantty the general selection No. 5, then his former first round corridor could be available. Travis Etienne would probably not move the needle among fans, but he is still 26 years old and is only one year to remove in his rookie agreement. Acquire a first round talent with 3,737 race yards for a selection of day 3 would be nothing to make fun.
Similarly, Kenneth Walker could get out of Seattle depending on how Seahawks use their 10 draft selections this weekend. Walker has a year left in his rookie agreement, and it is easy to imagine that Seattle opts for a duo of Zach Charbonnet and a rookie in his field. With such a short time remaining in that rookie agreement, Walker could offer an instant impact at a low commercial price: Cowboys suppliers are willing to give some type of extension.
Clearly, there are offers out there if the cowboys are willing.

Would it be an amazing and childish trade that jumps to the status of contender? I tend to doubt it. Cowboys have enough problems to pay their own stars without adding those of another person, since they are currently preparing for another contract for contract with Micah Parsons.
With so many other great money players on their list, they also need Draft selections to keep the rest of their young and cheap list. If you are not willing to spend on external free agents such as cowboys, you can not afford to separate too many Draft selections.
That does not mean that something “noun” cannot happen. Again, they have 10 selections, and do not always require great success to add a difference manufacturer. If the opportunity arises to add a headline or two without he to hear your complete draft, they should take it absolutely.
