Jax Ulbrich, son of the defensive coordinator of the Falcons of Atlanta, Jeff Ulbrich, has confessed to being the person who made a joke call to Shoreur Sanders and falsely informed him that he was selected by the New Orleans saints in the 2025 NFL draft.
“On Friday night, I made a tremendous fogkeeur, what I did was completely inexcusable, shameful and shamular,” Jax Ulbrich wrote in an Instagram post on Sunday. “I am very sorry to have done it from your moment, it was selfish and childish. I could never imagine preparing to celebrate one of the best moments of your life and I made a terrible mistake and got into that moment. Heart to forgive me.”
The Falcons confirmed that the youngest Ulbrich was the call to Sanders, who was recruited by the Cleveland Browns in the fifth round after his surprising fall. In a statement, the Falcons said Ulbrich “was unintentionally found” Sanders’ contact phone for an iPad draft while visiting their parents at home and decided to write the phone number for later.
Jeff Ulbrich was “disappacted” or his son’s actions, the Falcons said in the statement.
“The Halcons of Atlanta did not tolerate this behavior and send our sincere apologies to Shedeur Sanders and his family, with whom we have been in contact to apologize, as well as facilitate an apology directly from Jax to the Sanders family,” wrote the Falcons in their statement. “We also have the leg in contact with the NFL and we will continue to cooperate completely with any consultation that we can recite from the NFL League Office. We are thoroughly reviewing all the protocols and updating if necessary, to help an incident like this happens.”
After Sanders fell from the first round of the draft, many expected it to be selected early on day 2. Then videos of him arise on social networks receiving a call from some saying that the general manager of the saints, Mickey Loomis, and that the team was ready to write.
“It’s a long wait, man,” said the person, now confirmed that it is Jax Ulbrich. “We will take you with our next choice, man, but you will have to wait a little longer, man. I’m sorry for that.”
In the video posted on the YouTube channel of Deion Sanders Jr., Shedeur Sanders seemed confused when he received the joke call, resorting to people at his Draft party and asking: “What does that mean?”
The Saints play a different field marshal, Tyler Shegh, in the second round with selection No. 40.
As reported that the NFL, an investigation into the matter, Sanders minimized the incident after the Browns recruited him on Saturday.
“It really did not have an impact on me, because it was like, I mean, it is fine, as if it did not feed the negativity or not food in those things,” Sanders told reporters in the Cleveland area at a telephone conference. “You have seen in the YouTube video of Deion Jr.
Sanders was the only draft player this year who said they recovered a joke call. The selection of the sixth round of the Philadelphia Eagles, Kyle McCord and the sixth round of Buffalo Bills, Chase Lundt, told journalists who had received several joke calls. Tyler Warren, a first round of the Indianapolis Colts, was also at the recurring end of one, according to multiple reports.
