Lawrence Taylor sacks Abdul Carter’s request to wear his retired No. 56 with Giants

Abdul Carter is a shot, thinking that he had nothing to go.

Of course, Lawrence Taylor is removed by New York giants and is one of the most revered jersey numbers in the history of the franchise. But Carter, the third general selection in the NFL 2025 draft on Thursday night, idolize Taylor and wanted to see if it would be great with him going after quarterbacks all these years later while using that family number.

Well, Lt fired those dreams quickly.

Taylor learned about the request for Carter and, although honest, believes that the former Penn State passes corridor needs to make a number in opposite crimes in something different from No. 56.

“It has to be the player who is,” Taylor told ESPN. “It can’t be another Lawrence Taylor. Well, it may be better than a Lawrence Taylor. Who knows? But he has to leave his mark. It depends on him.”

Carter had the number 11 on Penn State, but that number is also removed by the giants in honor of the Phil Simms Marshal.

Carter published a photo on social networks during his previous visit to the Draft at the Giants facilities, a few weeks ago of a photo of Taylor hanging in the hall and spoke after being selected about how Heyten sees YouTube videos of the Pro Football Room in the Hall of Fame of the Plazadores considered on Whatrs in Neminered.

“The sausage that could say no!” Carter posted on X on Friday night. “My position does not change, Lt is the (goat emoji). Nothing but respect … This will make me work harder! I love it.”

Carter led the country with 23.5 cup for loss and had 12 captures last season for Penn State. He reinforces a defense of the giants who already has solid passes runners in Kayvon Thibodeaux and Brian Burns and a strong line D that includes Pro Bowler Dexter Lawrence.

“Adding to that group, it will be drugs,” Carter said after being recruited. “It will be the most dominant group.”

Taylor can appreciate that, and is supporting Carter, only in a different number than 56.

“I know he would love to use that number, but hey, I think he is retired,” Taylor told New York Post. “Get another number, I don’t care if it’s double zero, and then make it famous.”

There are some precedents for giant players to use retired numbers. The open receiver Malik Clouds, the first New York round last year, requested to use No. 1, which was used by the Ray Flaherty football hall in the 1930s. The permission of the Family Family of Flaherty Clouds to use its number.

Cam Ward, the first general selection of Tennessee in Thorsday Night, received a surprise the next day when the member of the Fame Hall of Professional Soccer Warren Moon appeared for his introductory press conference and gave him permission to use his number 1 retired.

Associated Press reports.
