The incoming team of General Motors/Cadillac Formula 1 tok another big step on its way to the network on Wednesday.
The governing body of F1 announced that the incoming team was officially approved as a supplier of the power unit for the 2029 F1 season. In a statement published on social networks, the FIA announced that GM Performance Power Units LLC “has been approved by the FIA for a supplier of energy units for the World Championship of Formula one of the FIA from 2029”.
As the FIA statement pointed out, the Cadillac incoming team will use Ferrari’s power units until 2029.

The president of the FIA, Mohammed Ben Sulayem, praised the approval and declared that he marked “another step” in the growth of sport worldwide.
“Welcome to GM Performance Power Units LLC. As a supplier of power unit approved for the championship that begins in 2029, marks another step in the global expansion of Formula 1 and highlights the growing interest of world class automotive as General Motors.”
