For 97 years, members of the Film Academy were allowed to vote for or against films that had not bothered to see.
This new rule that requires voters to see each film in each category in which they vote will enter into force in time for 98Th Academy awards ceremony next March.
“In a change of procedure, the members of the Academy must now see all the films nominated in each category to be eligible to vote in the final round for the Oscars®,” the academy announced Monday. “All designated nominees will also be included in the final ticket.”
One of the reasons why I do not publish lists of “better” end of the year here in Breitbart News is due to the fact that I do not see everything. It seems unfair to put aside those invisible titles. But, for almost a century, Oscar’s voters were only encouraged to watch the films that were accused of the responsibility of consecrating (or not) to history.
And over the years, Oscar voters have become increasingly vowel to admit that they have not seen all titles in each category of nomination.
Even so, they cast a vote.
That is crazy.
That is like voting about Miss America without a lender to see all states.
The question now, however, is how do you intend to enforce this rule the Film Academy? Ticket Stubs? Assistance records? A pop questionnaire?
The truth is that the academy cannot enforce this. You can only encourage it with even more rules that will be easy to work. Most voters watch thesis films at home through a special transmission application. All that can be measured is whether the films were transmitted and then transmitted from beginning to end. You cannot verify that a specific Oscar voter would sit there and saw everything.
Listen, I understand it … nobody needs Orange watch I to look Wicked ORPÍN Emilia Pérez And then decide whether I will love or hate them. I know I will hate them. If you hate DuneYou really need to see Dune 2?
But again, this is the reason why I do not make the lists of “the best of”. Unless I have seen everything, or close enough, I am not qualified. If it were a voter of the Oscar, due to the responsibility involved, I would pay everything. The Oscars are history. The Oscars make or break races. Oscars can make or break a full movie.
At the same time, movies stinks so much these days, if you are asked to become a voter of the Oscar, without hesitation, I would say no, I am in any way seeing all that garbage, as gay things without special.
Now, one has to ask how the list of Oscar winners for 97 years would look different if the voters had always required to see why they voted … or against.
