The state senator of Florida, Ileana García (R), joined the Democrats three weeks before the shooting of the State University of Florida (FSU) and rejected the legislation that would have allowed students to be armed by their own defense.
Breitbart News pointed out that the transport legislation of the campus, SB 814, would be tasks on March 25, and would give Republicans the opportunity to allow university students to carry firearms on the campus for self -defense.
State Senator Randy Fine (R) sponsored SB 814 and issued a press release on the bill in February, saying:
Adults must have the right to protect themselves on campus, particularly after many universities in America chose to protect the defenders of Muslim terror about their own student. There is no magic force field that prevents criminals from taking a weapon to the campus; This bill will ensure that students have the same rights on the campus that do so.
On March 26, Breitbart News reported that Garcia crossed the hall to vote with the Democrats, killing SB 814 and eliminating the opportunity for university and university students to be armed by self -defense.
On April 17, at least six people were injured after an individual opened fire against unarmed students in the FSU students.
