The jets had the need for speed, and may have reached to fill it.
The general manager of New Jets, Darren Mouugegy, selected Georgia’s open receiver, Arian Smith, in the fourth round on Saturday.
Smith is a sprinter who can remove the top of the defenses.
He ran 40 yards in 4.36 seconds in the exploration harvester.
But Smith had 10 drops and 48 receptions last season. It was projected as a possible selection of the seventh round by some draft analysts.
Smith also has a long medical history with three surgeries at the university and a list of injuries that include a broken fibula, torn meniscus, fractured and high and anh-an-an-an-op-sprain doll.
The Jets see a player who can add a dimension to his offensive from which he does not have enough: speed.
“Elite speed. It has an explosive element,” said Mougey. “When you have a piece like that in the offensive, it allows you to do more. Whether you are removing the upper part or shots or you are getting it in speed sweeps, fast smoking, only elite speed.”

Both Mougey and coach Aaron Glenn acknowledged that he needs to work in his hands after his falling problems in Georgia.
“The only thing is that this player is very aware of himself,” said Glenn. “He starts there. He knows that he has to improve in that. I have lived this with Jameson Williams. When he reached the league, everyone talked about their drops. He worked on Tireessly’s day. I will go do me Irwey go to what tells you the name of what you leave, which can be better that you leave.
The belief was that the jets could take a field marshal at some point in this draft, but ended up without selecting one.
Mougey said they could sign a non -deceived free agent field.
“We talked about many of the quartbacks in this draft and during the process,” said Mougey. “We will see after the draft if we address that with non -demanded free agents.”

They are signing Missouri QB Brady Cook, who is used naked.
Jordan Travis, a fifth -round selection a year ago, is still a mystery.
Travis sat last season recovering from a horrible injury in the leg he suffered at the University in 2023.
Mougey refused to give any update on the current state of Travis.

“I won to talk about any of the medical players publicly,” said Mougey.
The defensive Tackle was another place that the jets did not approach in this draft.
Mougey said they believe in the player who signed in the free agency, Jay Tufle, Derrick Nnadi and Byron Cowart, to occupy roles with Quinnen Williams.
“We feel good with the group,” said Mougey. “The boys who are in that room, many of those boys have played: Jay, Nnadi, Cowart. Those boys have played in the NFL. They know how to play.”
The Jets took four SEC players and three ACO players. … The jets are signing Missouri QB Brady Cook, who was without delaying.
