AFP reports that Schwab informed the Wef Board “upon entering my 88th year, I have decided to resign the position of president and as a member of the Board of Trustees, with immediate effect.”
His departure means that he will no longer be present to know the rich personally, the privileged and the celebrities who went to the Wef meeting every year in Davos’s luxury, of Davos, to congregate with each other in his claimed achievements.
The Wef said that Vice President Peter Brabeck-Letmathe was appointed president of the Board in the Interin and that a replacement search committee had been designated, according to the AFP.
The Wef Board praised what it called Schwab’s “outstanding achievements” in its 55 years as the leader of the organization.
“At a time when the world is experiencing a rapid transformation, the need for an inclusive dialogue to navigate the complexity and form, the future has never left more critical,” he said in a statement.
“On the basis of its role of trust, the forum will continue to gather leaders from all sectors and regions to exchange ideas and promote collaboration.”

Schwab was born in Ravensburg, Germany, on March 30, 1938. He studied at Swiss and Harvard universities in the United States, and has doctorates in engineering and economy, along with more fearful honorary doctorates.
He was a little known business professor at the University of Geneva when in 1971 he founded the precursor of the Wef, the European Management Forum.
