Coanfrerion Sara Haines asked Yang playing Vance in the NBC Sketch comedy program.
“I thought there would be better people for it,” Yang said. “It was my impostor syndrome. I thought, there are better people for this. I worked with an accent coach, I had to bet on Ohio and Apalaches with the accent. It’s difficult, it’s very subtle!”
Whoopi Goldberg told Yang his interpretation of Vance “was fun like hell.”
Yang thanked him: “I mean, look, the guy is a murderer of the Pope, okay?” There were thunderous applause, with Goldberg bending to the side.
