A convicted murderer allowed working outside the prison, he threw himself from the famous Duomo Cathedral of Milan on Sunday, committing suicide, after allegedly stabbing a colleague, according to local news reports.
The ANSA news agency and other points of sale reported that the Italian man, whom he identified as Emanuele de María, 35, fell “meters of meters” after, according to reports, he threw himself from the Gothic cathedral to the square from below.
The area surrounding Duomo, the most famous milestone in Milan, is usually full of people, but news reports did not quote any injury among passers -by.
The television images showed the police blocking the area surrounding one of the sides of the cathedral.
The authorities identified Maria, who went to television last year to describe her life, from an identification in her pocket and tattoos, according to several reports, including Corriere della Sera Daily.
A witness, an owner of a bar named Emanuele Sanità, told the outlet that Maria landed right next to a child holding a teddy animal.
“Hey, he fell beside him. He was in a state of shock. He sat there for twenty minutes without speaking,” Sanità said.
The Maria had a leg fulfilling a sentence of 14 years after being convicted of the murder of a woman in 2016, according to the reports. He was arrested in Germany in 2018 after hiding as a fugitive in the Netherlands, Milano reported today.
But for almost two years he had a leg work part -time at a hotel near the Central Train Station of Milan.
Police had been looking for it since Friday, when he allegedly stabbed a work colleague. The condition of that man, identified as an Italian-Gipcio, 50, was improving Sunday after emergency surgery in the neck and chest, Milano reported today.
