There is no responsibility claim, but the police call it ‘terrorist attack’ by rebels under intensification of military repression in the region.
Armed men opened fire against a group of tourists in Kashmir administered by India, and some of them feared murdered.
Police said multiple tourists received gunshot wounds in the “terrorist attack” on Tuesday while visiting Baisaran Meadow, a km (3 miles) from the played tourist city or Pahalgam.
“This attack is much larger than anything we have seen directed to civilians in recent years,” wrote Prime Minister Omar Abdullah, the senior elected official in the region, on social networks.
“The death toll is still being determined, so I don’t want to go into those details,” he said.
No group had assumed the responsibility of the attack, which the police blamed the armed groups fighting the Indian government, according to the Associated Press agency. The security forces launched a search for the attackers while the injured were taken to the hospitals.
Kashmira has been under intensive military repression since its semi -autonomous status was revoked by the Indian government about six years ago.
The attack continues to violence at the beginning of this month between the security forces and the subject, which resulted in six deaths, including four officers.
The attacks aimed at tourists in Kashmira have been rare in recent years, the last ones that date back to June, when the combatants attacked a bus that transported Hindu pilgrims, had lunch in a deep throat and killed at least nine people.
Between India and Pakistan
Indian nuclear almination rivals and Pakistan manage a part of Kashmir, but both claim the territory as a whole.
Many in the Muslim majority, Kashmir, administered by India, support the objective of the rebels to unite the territory with Pakistan or create an independent country.
India insists that Kashmir’s lifting is sponsored by Pakistan. Pakistan denies the position, and many Cunemiris consider him a legitimate freedom struggle.
The Indian government, led by the Bharatiya Janata (BJP) party, revoked the special basket of Kashmir in 2019, dividing the State into two territories administered by the Federal Government: Jammu and Cashmira, and Ladakh.
The same year, a report from the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights accused India of human rights violations in Kashmir and requested a commission of investigation on accusations.
