A local Mexican politician was shot dead on Monday while having dinner at a restaurant in the problematic state of Jalisco at western Mexico, authorities said.
José Luis Pereira, main member of the Government of the city of Teocaltiche, was attacked around 5:00 pm in a seafood restaurant, according to the local prosecutor’s office.
“Police officers responded to the scene after receiving a report from a person injured by a firearm,” said the prosecutor’s office in a statement. “Upon arriving, together with the medical staff, the officers confirmed that the victim no longer had vital signs.”
