The main diplomats of the United States, Ukraine, France, Germany and the United Kingdom have postponed a planned meeting in London, degrading conversations about the end of the war in Ukraine to discussions among their senior officials.
The abrupt postponement was announced by the United Kingdom Foreign Ministry, without elaborating the reason.
The Foreign Minister of Ukraine, Andrii Sybiha, is expected to celebrate a bilateral meeting with British Secretary of Foreign Affairs David Lammy.
Sybiha arrived in London along with President Volodyymyr Zenskyy’s Cabinet Chief Andriy Yermak, and Rustem Uumerov Defense Minister.
In a series of publications on social networks, Yermak said: “In spite of everything, we will work for peace.
“Today we will talk about ways to achieve a complete and unconditional fire as the first step remakes a complete settlement process and achieving a fair and sustainable peace.”
Yermak confirmed that the Ukrainian delegation will still meet with its American and European counterparts in London.
Degradation at the level of diplomacy occurs in the midst of signs of growing frustration in Washington. The discussions continue previous negotiations in Paris and focused on a high fire frame presented by the United States last week.
Keith Kellogg, envoy of the president of the United States, Donald Trump, for Ukraine and Russia, had to direct the US delegation in London, although the special envoy Steve Witkoff and Secretary of State Marco Rubio had already confirmed that he did not attend.
“We are not going to continue with this effort for a week and months,” Rubio told journalists after Paris conversations. He warned that Trump could soon turn to “other priorities.”
‘There is nothing to talk about’
According to the officials informed about the proposal circulated by the United States in Paris, the framework includes a controversial provision that requires Ukraine to collect the annexation of Russia of Crimea.
The document, described by US officials such as Trump’s “final offer”, has caused a strong kyiv opposition.
“There is nothing to talk about. This violates our Constitution. This is our territory: the territory of the people of Ukraine,” Zenskyy said an informative session in kyiv on Tuesday.
Crimea, annexed by Russia in 2014, is among several potential concessions that kyiv fear that they will be fearful, along with the concerns that are given in the partially occupied regions of Kheron, Luhansk and Zaporizhia.
“As soon as conversations about Crimea and our sovereign territories begin, the conversations enter the format that Russia Wusses, prolonging the war, because it will not be possible to agree on everything quickly,” Zenskyy added.
Zenskyy reiterated that negotiations could only be processed after an unconditional detention of Russian hostilities.
Nine dead in dnipropetrovsk
Meanwhile, the Russian president, Vladimir Putin, has offered to freeze the struggles in the current lines as part of a possible agreement, according to the Financial Times newspaper.
The offer occurs after the expiration of a 30 -hour Easter truce declared by Moscow, that both parties were accused of rape.
Putin’s foreign policy advisor, Yuri Ushakov, said Witkoff was expected to return to Moscow this week for more discussions.
However, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov warned against the process.
“The problem of liquidation is so complex that it would be wrong with some tight limits and try to establish a little Tim frame for an agreement, a viable agreement: it would be an ungrateful task,” he said.
On Tuesday in the House of Commons in the United Kingdom, Defense Secretary John Healey accused Russia or deliberately stored the peace process.
“While Putin has said that he declared a Easter truce, he broke it; while Putin says La Paz, he has rejected the full fire; and while Putin says Hey to end the fight, he continues to play for time.”
As diplomatic efforts continue, Russian forces have intensified attacks against civil infrastructure. Drones attacks during the night reached multiple objectives in Ukraine.
In Marhanets, a drone attack on a bus that transported workers killed nine people, according to Serhiy Lysak, governor of the Dnipropetrovsk region.
In Odesa, two people were injured and several fires occurred after another drone attacked the civil infrastructure, said regional governor Oleh Kiper.
